Our team of porters, the true G-fighters

You can’t climb Kilimanjaro without porters. We, the porters “the World Compass Adventures Fighters” carry your gear while hiking Kilimanjaro. On a longer trek, expect a team of over 10 porters for just two climbers! Being a porter is a heavy job. We work with a mostly fixed team of porters, people we trust and we care about. The G-Fighters give their best years, so World Compass Adventures gives them the best in return. A team feeling, personal development, education and a good salary. If you climb with World Compass Adventures, you climb with a team of friends! Below you can read some of our life stories. At the mountain, we welcome you for a talk about your life, our life, our shared passion for the beauty of nature and Africa. Karibu Sana!

Our mission and vision

Our mission is to guide you safely to Mount Kilimanjaro and back to the valley and give you the experience of a lifetime on the Roof of Africa.

In our vision, the whole team, guides and porters, should be able to realize their dreams. We believe in education and training. A trained team gives you a safer journey. The education not only benefits the guides and porters, but the wider community around them.

Our management

World Compass Adventures is 100% owned by Patrick Makere since 2015. Patrick used to be a porter and trained to be a mountain guide, working as a contractor for big outfitters. Building an own company that truly respect the needs of the porters has always be his dream. It is not easy, it has to be done between climbs and in the low season. In 2022 Steven and Lisette climbed with Patrick and his team and were impressed with Patrick’s vision and drive to improve porter live. They are happy to support Patrick in further developing World Compass Adventures as advisors and non-executive directors. They receive no reimbursements.
