Safari Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania

    Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be greeted by the warm Tanzanian air and transferred to your hotel in either Moshi or Arusha. After settling in, you'll have an initial meeting with your climbing team and guide. This meeting serves as an opportunity to discuss the upcoming trek, go over the itinerary, and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment. Take this time to rest and prepare mentally and physically for the adventure ahead.

  • Day 2: Lemosho Gate to Big Tree Camp

    The journey officially begins as you depart from your hotel and drive to the Lemosho Gate, the starting point of the Lemosho Route. Here, you'll complete park formalities and meet your trekking crew. The trail winds through lush rainforest, offering glimpses of various species of flora and fauna. After several hours of trekking, you'll arrive at Big Tree Camp, situated at an elevation of 2,780 meters (9,121 feet). Here, amidst the serene surroundings, you'll settle in for your first night on the mountain.

  • Day 3: Big Tree Camp to Shira 1 Camp

    Continuing your ascent, you'll trek through the rainforest, gradually gaining altitude as you enter the heath zone. The landscape begins to open up, revealing panoramic views of the Shira Plateau in the distance. Arriving at Shira 1 Camp, located at an elevation of 3,505 meters (11,499 feet), you'll be greeted by the expansive vistas and the sense of accomplishment that comes with each step closer to the summit.

  • Day 4: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

    Today's trek takes you further into the heart of the mountain as you ascend through the moorland and cross the rugged terrain of the Shira Ridge. The ever-changing landscapes and volcanic formations provide a captivating backdrop for your journey. Arriving at Shira 2 Camp, situated at 3,845 meters (12,615 feet) above sea level, you'll be rewarded with stunning views and a sense of camaraderie among your fellow trekkers.

  • Day 5: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

    Ascending to even greater heights, you'll make your way to Lava Tower, a natural landmark at an elevation of 4,600 meters (15,091 feet). Here, you'll pause for acclimatization before descending into the Barranco Valley. The trek offers exhilarating views of the alpine desert and the surrounding peaks. Arriving at Barranco Camp, nestled at 3,950 meters (12,960 feet), you'll conquer the challenging Barranco Wall and settle in for the night, readying yourself for the final push to the summit.

  • Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

    With the Barranco Wall behind you, you'll traverse the Karanga Valley, a landscape of stunning beauty and serenity. As you ascend to Karanga Camp, located at 4,035 meters (13,237 feet) above sea level, you'll be filled with a sense of anticipation for the summit bid ahead. Here, amidst the towering peaks and vast expanse of sky, you'll find solace and strength for the journey ahead.

  • Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

    The final ascent begins as you make your way to Barafu Camp, the last base camp before the summit. With each step, you'll inch closer to your goal, fueled by determination and the support of your team. Arriving at Barafu Camp, situated at 4,600 meters (15,091 feet), you'll take time to rest and prepare for the midnight summit attempt. The air is filled with anticipation as you gather your strength for the final push to the summit.

  • Day 8: Summit Attempt - Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and descent to Mweka Camp

    In the darkness before dawn, you'll set out from Barafu Camp, guided by the light of your headlamp and the collective determination of your team. The trail ascends steeply, winding its way up the slopes of Kilimanjaro under the vast expanse of the starlit sky. As the first light of dawn breaks on the horizon, you'll reach Stella Point, a crucial milestone on the path to the summit. From there, it's a final push to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, where you'll stand atop the roof of Africa and bask in the glory of your achievement. After savouring the moment and capturing photos to commemorate the occasion, you'll begin your descent, retracing your steps back to Barafu Camp for a brief rest and brunch. Continuing onward, you'll descend to Mweka Camp, located at an elevation of 3,100 meters (10,171 feet), where you'll spend your final night on the mountain.
